Make-Up-Some-Names Game
Wednesday, September 13, 2006
Okie. I shall do the honour of continuing...

After everyone retreated for the night, Me, Shubing, Weiliang & Birthday boy Ghimz started playing with the poker cards. Suggestions were thrown around for games and we finally settled on this one... which doesn't really have a name... but accordingly to Weiliang (who invented the game) it is called the 'Tanjong Pagar Game'.

So, a dealer is chosen & he will deal the cards facing up starting with himself & goes round the group. When your card is dealt in front of you, if you see someone else with a card of the same suit, you've gotta shout out the name of that person & all your cards will go to him! If that person shouts out your name first, well too bad then... you get his stack. And the game goes on till the dealer finishes all the cards. Person with the most cards in the end loses.Note: dealer is in the game as well & players take turns to deal for each round. Our forfeit that night, was to finish off the drinks that were left...

About what aimei said... All those fruit names & flower names came up after the 1st few rounds as calling one another's names were too easy. We decided on a category for each round & thought up some weird names in that category for ourselves. Of course, the weird names could only have a max of 3 syllables..

Some names that came up were:
  1. Flowers: Dandelion, Rafflesia, Camomile, ...
  2. Road names: Hasinda, Faber Crest, Cantonment, Tanjong Rhu
  3. Animals: Iguana, Mongoose, ...
  4. Countries: Estonia, Croatia, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan
  5. Brands: Swarovski, Mont Blanc, Giordano, ...
  6. Fruits: Mangosteen, Papaya, Rambutan, Chiku
I forgot some liao... Rest of that name game gang: please help me fill in if you remember.

Well that's about it for the game. And we went to sleep after that.. Anyone care to add on after me?

our lil escapade...
wow! quite shocked tt bing actually blogged abt it! haha...considering how often she updates her own blog~ something gd must have happened huh?! hahaha...juz kidding!!! anyways...whilst we didn't take as many photos as we had intended to...at least we managed to get a few shots when we were on the Green Line bus. whacky driver with a totally amusing accent. when he said "Imbiah Lookout", i thot it sounded like "Danger Lookout". the driver of the shuttle bus we took out the following day, on the other hand, spoke excellent english. i thot it sounded more accurate than mine on a good day. hahaha...oh wells. without further a due~

our lil drinking session
Sunday, September 03, 2006
whee!!! before i go on abt it, THANKS GALS + GHIM! had a great time...despite the rather disappointing drinks. think we shld have dinner nxt time instead...i'm sure the food is betta=)

well, the 6 of us trotted down to Giraffe @ the Istana Park...something decided quite impromptu yday coz' karen suggested gg for a drink after her work today. i'd really give high scores for the ambience...but drinks-wise, the bartender can do betta. and honestly, y can't they serve us water? i'm sure they've had tonnes of ppl asking for water~ remind me to bring a huge bottle nxt time k? service was alright...as ting pointed out, their uniform is SUPER MY TYPE!! hahaa...lok kok beach wear style.

anyways, millions of thanks to our chauffeur for today!! mr. ang ghim hui!!! the dude drove us to maxwell for supperoos and sent us home (minus jingyu and ting). sorry tt there aren't any pics to post up for this outing...coz' the lighting @ Giraffe was bad and we were too preoccupied with "protecting" ghim from maxwell's main clientele. but fear not...we'll take A LOT LOT LOT nxt weekend k? hohohoho....we shld do these sessions more often! haha...altho' i'm not sure if we have THAT much of gossip everytime.

alrighty. am gg to bed...thot i'd juz post something. do confirm attendance for nxt weekend's 4h escapade~ i'm bringing a bottle of champagne...who's contributing? jingyu has expressed interest in getting wasted. so...those willing to help her fulfil tt wish can always bring more booze. hahaha...details will be furnished next week.

fun fact for today.

hmm...i was thinking how to make our posts more interesting. u know how sunday times used to have "ripley's believe it or not"?! haha...we cld come up with our own version of it. it's like...helping each other learn something new everyday! cld be abt anything...even urself! -laughs- just an idea! anyways...the few of us had dinner yday together @ 鼎泰丰 and jingyu demonstrated a rather queer way of eating 小笼包s. yeap, tt's what inspired the proposal i just mentioned. hahaha...wanted to post a step-by-step instruction guide on it...but the gal ate quite fast and i cldnt whip out my cameroos in time. so...maybe nxt time i'll take the pic. but for now...a written description of how it is done=)

Prepare:
One order of 小笼包
One saucer of soya sauce (optional)
A pair of chopsticks
A spoon
A bowl/plate (optional)

Step One:
Using a pair of chopsticks and a spoon, pick up a 小笼包 (aka bun) with care.

Step Two:
Bite off the top of the bun (meaning the folds), leaving a hole on top, exposing the insides.

Step Three:
Using the same pair of chopsticks used to pick up the bun, giap the meat-filling out of the wrapping and savour it (dip in soya sauce for taste if needed).

Step Four:
Repeat Step Three until all the meat-filling is finished.

Step Five:
Consume the soup and wrapping that is left on the spoon simultaneously.

yeap! tt's it! now u can enjoy ur 小笼包s in another way. if in doubt, contact jingyu and karen for demonstration. hahaha...till nxt time, take care everybody!!!!
